How to reach Flower Market in Connaught Place –The flower market is located across the road from the ancient Hanuman Temple on Baba Kharak Singh Road, Connaught Place. The nearest Metro station is Rajiv Chowk. Since, it is located in Connaught Place, which is one of the main commercial hubs of New Delhi; one can find number of buses, autos, taxis from any part of the city. New Delhi Railway Station is only few meters away from this Market. As soon as you enter the Baba Kharak Singh Marg, you would see lines of auto rickshaws and other vehicles parked on both sides of the road. Finding a nice parking space can be very difficult here. There is no paid parking in the morning so beware of people who may try to fool you into paying parking fees.

About the Market
It is believed that this flower market in Connaught Place was founded in 1995 by Shri Brij Mohan Khanagwal. There are 100s of flower vendors at this market who come from far off places every day and make their living by selling the different variety of flowers. Most of the florists from different parts of Delhi also come here to buy the flowers they sell during the day. While they buy the flowers at dirt cheap rates, but sell them at a much higher prices.

Once you enter the market you would see lines of vendors or florists selling different types of cut flowers that are imported from other cities and countries. The fragrances from the flowers like roses, chrysanthemums, rajnigandha would greet you here. This is a wholesale market so you can get your favorite flowers at very low prices here.

Number of Flower Traders displays their offerings during this time when retailers and decorators, and some customers who want flowers for their personal use, come to stock up for their own customers. Hundreds of traders set up shop every day of the year, all temporary, to do an annual business over $100 million (unofficial estimates).

Focusing on the flowers themselves, the range is as impressive as the source itself. Flowers come here from all over India – as well as from distant countries like Thailand, China and Holland amongst others. Variety of flowers in flower market in Connaught Place, includes roses, orchids, zebras, lilies, iris, marigolds, anthuriums, and even artificial ones. In all shades of reds, oranges, yellows, blues, whites to highlight just a few.

The popular flowers like Roses, Bird of Paradise and Carnations that are available here are imported from Pune and Bangaluru. One can also find different varieties of Gladiolus or the pink trumpet flowers, marigold or ‘genda fool’ flowers, orange and peach colored Asiatic Lilies, Rajnigandha, orchids, variety of Gerbera flowers which are available in red, yellow, orange and pink color.

Other varieties of flowers includes anthorium, Jaffri, Margaret, patti Kolkata, lotus and more. For rose lovers, apart from the popular red rose, the vendors also sell peach roses, yellow roses, white roses, pink roses and other shaded roses.


Different types of leaves and branches are also sold here which are used for decorating the flowers. These are especially popular with the florists who use them in the bouquets.

Bamboo and plants
The flower traders also sell bamboos and other plants that can be used in your home. The market also has its share of dry flower vendors who sell a large variety dry flowers, dry flower baskets and pot-pourri that could be a part of your home decor or used as gift items.

Bouquet Accessories
The flower market in Connaught Place sells various other products and accessories that was often required by the florists. For example one can buy different color nets, cellophane sheets with different designs, branch wires and sponges used for the bouquets, sparkle, cello tape, scissors, and ribbons in different colors and so on. Cane baskets, glass jars and other accessories can also be found here and are sold at very low prices.


As in other markets of Connaught Place, Bargaining is a thumb rule here as well. For example, a high quality rose one would buy for Rs. 15 ($ 0.4) in a retail shop. But here in flower market at Connaught Place, this can be purchased for Rs. 4 only. Or a zebra going for Rs. 100 for 10 can be had for a tenth of the price. During peak season, usually lasting September – February, and in short bursts at other times, prices can be higher with sellers less willing to discount their products.

Important Things to Remember:

  • If you have time constraint, then make sure to reach market early, make good purchase and leave by time.
  • Although it’s a wholesale market, but individual customers can also buy flowers for their personal use.
  • Bargaining is there to take. Try it for sure. An item of worth Rs.250 can be bought in Rs.100 if bargained properly.
  • If you are planning to buy a large number of flowers then make sure that your car is parked near the market.
  • It is advisable for women to not visit the market alone. If there is no option, then you can reach market little late after morning.
  • If you are looking for dirt cheap deals, the best time to visit the market is around 8.30 AM when the flower sellers start winding up and are ready to sell their flowers at low prices.
  • Different vendors ask for different prices for the same flowers. Therefore it is better to explore the market a little before you start buying.
  • If you are buying roses, then check them before you buy or else you may be handed wilted or old flowers.
